This year has started off with many wonderful happenings. I am so excited to share all of the exciting news.
On Friday, we had some special visitors in the Noelani Designs studio. Angela Maki, the hostess of the longest-running Japanese TV show filmed in Hawaii, “Aloha Tengoku,” paid us a visit to feature us on her new TV show, “Sweets Day Tripper.” Angela and I met a little over a year ago on a commercial shoot for Shiseido and we fell in love with each others’ personalities! She is an amazing young woman and I think we inspired each other with our creativity and fun-loving attitudes.
The camera crew showed up an hour later than expected, and I had planned for my son Aukai to be sleeping during the filming so we could focus…but of course, as soon as the camera was rolling and ready for action, Aukai woke up! Classic! Luckily I have great supportive friends, and my girlfriend Yhazi was here to take Aukai outside for a stroll in the wagon!
Angela showed the jewelry studio to the camera and commented on some of the pieces, all in Japanese, and I had no idea what she was saying. I just stood there and smiled, reveling in the moments as I realized how special it is to be able to share my creative space with people across the globe via telecommunication.
I designed a signature “Maki” necklace, inspired by the sea, made of 3 coral chips on a dainty chain. Check out the necklace here. Maki is an avid surfer and waterwoman, so I knew she would appreciate it. She loved it and put it on immediately! I also gifted the co-hostess of the show, Ruriko, the Maki necklace, and she was just as excited to receive the piece.
I got a photo with Maki’s agents, Matsushita and Hida, from LDH Agency (Love Dream Happiness).
It felt so great to be in the presence of Maki again, as she is a blossoming young entrepreneur and glides through her life and work so gracefully. I am hoping to collaborate with her in the future and possibly visit her in Japan this summer! We will see what the future brings!
