Honolulu Zoo

We got to go to the zoo and it has been years since I last went. My girlfriend Jenna and I loaded up the kids in the minivan to check out the Honolulu Zoo!

We had so much fun at the zoo checking out all the animals and the kids were amazed at the incredible creatures! Good idea Jenna! I’m glad we got a day off of work for a day with the animals!

Photoshoots galore!

Well I am finally feeling up to par as far as my post-baby body. I was so impressed with Brooke’s pictures last week that I asked her if she would like to shoot me to update my modeling portfolio, and she accepted!!

We asked Lena to come back and shoot with us and do makeup for myself and another model Mahina, and she accepted after I said I’d give her a pair of earrings. I was stoked. I love the bartering system! She ended up picking out the Lori small gold earrings at the end of the night.

We arranged to meet at 4PM at Peter King’s (yes he used to be the VJ on one of MTV’s shows in the nineties!) house a few blocks away from me. He ended up making a video of the shoot: http://999hi.com/blog/pk/Idea2Noeweb.mov which features my new eagle necklace and the Love heart necklace (perfect wedding jewelry). CHECK IT OUT!

Seasons of Life Photoshoot

I love when people come together to collaborate and combine all of their talents to work symbiotically. This is exactly what happened at the photoshoot we did at the end of March for Karine France-Matsumoto’s wedding planning event company, Seasons of Life. My girlfriend and model Corinne Gold invited me to participate in the photoshoot for Karine’s new website. I met with both of these creative women one week prior to coordinate the looks and here’s what we came up with. Karine’s beautiful daughter acted as bridesmaids and my other new friend Renee Nobriga were part of the shoot as well. They are all so gorgeous! The photographer, Brooke Dombroski, took amazing photos, and the makeup artist, Lena, did an amazing job. She also does waxing:). And Monae’ styled everyone’s hair which stayed up and beautiful all day despite the Hawaiian humidity!!

Everybody was having so much fun at the shoot, there was actually candy (M&M’s and sour patch kids-my favorites!) in the green and yellow bowls!

Then we got to go to the beach and it was the prefect lighting to capture the sunset shots! Corinne’s husband Aaron joined us for the shoot and he wasn’t shy to show his affection! Below Corinne is modeling the Cassandra Lariat Necklace and the Rita earrings. The lariat is made of a Mother of Pearl hoop with white freshwater pearls cascading down 14k goldfill wire. It’s the perfect necklace for a v-neck wedding (or non-wedding for that matter) dress.

All in all we had so much fun!! The sunset ended up being amazing!

Honolulu Advertiser Press!!

It’s funny how people come and go in your life…since I took a little hiatus from jewelry design in 2008 to adjust to mommyhood, I have been pretty much out of my normal social scene, with a move to the North Shore and a total lifestyle change. I have enjoyed my transition and new people in my life but I definitely didn’t forget my old friends. I recently reconnected with Lacy Matsumoto, a writer for the Honolulu Advertiser, and we were excited to see we are both happy and successful at this point in our lives. Lacy is a freelance writer, event coordinator, and has a smart eye for fashion and anything up and coming before anyone elses notices. We first worked together in October 2006, when she used to coordinate events at Next Door called Urban Pacific…she was one of the pioneers of establishing Chinatown as the local fashion district.

I was excited when I got the call from her to interview me for a piece in the Honolulu Advertiser. Here is her story:
